Austin Dean recruitment is currently looking for a Ward Manager - Radiotherapy Band 7 for a prestigious Private Clinic based in LondonThis position will have nursing responsibility for leading, developing, implementing and evaluating innovative and efficient models of care management for patients. This will be for patient within the outpatient setting receiving cancer treatment for both haematology oncology related malignancies as well as medical oncology. Principal Areas of Responsibility - Professional/ Clinical: • Be responsible for the overall organisation and management of the outpatient department. • Maintain a clinical commitment aligned to patient needs. • Provide senior professional advice to other members of the MDT, patients and carers. • Support the running of the Acute Oncology Service and work closely with the inpatient teams including the Critical Care Unit Outreach team in identifying those patients at risk. • Responsible for maintaining and enhancing professional standards of care across the spectrum of oncology. • Lead the development of initiatives and strategies• Advise and support colleagues at an individual, team and organisational level• Provide senior nursing practice, exercising a high degree of specialist professional judgement. • Work within the financial constraints of the budget. • Ensure that drug administration and control is in accordance with legislative requirements and clinic regulations • Recruit and manage staff ensuring that nurse: patient ratios promote staff and patient safety. • Promote effective communication across the multi-disciplinary team• Carry out assessment of patients, make critical judgements to inform clinical decision making, make recommendations and prescription of treatment.• Participate in inspections such as those of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Human Tissue Authority and Health Executive to ensure a positive outcome. • To implement where necessary the Clinics accident and complaints policy- using Datix for all Clinical incidents. • Utilise specialist knowledge of clinical skills as a senior practitioner in Oncology. Undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and interpretation of the results. • Use expert knowledge to prescribe / administer medications according to non- medical prescribing. • Use complex reasoning and critical thinking to analyse the needs of patients and make recommendations for treatment and nursing care. • Autonomously manage the care of a patient caseload liaising as appropriate with Consultants • Promote innovative solutions • Ensure data deadlines being requested are met, including MDT data -which may inform treatment choice, regional and local auditing of care. • Provide support for patients and carers to ensure that advice and information is accessible to them and to promote empowerment and informed choice. • Audit patient outcomes related to care provision• Network locally, regionally and nationally to recognise the ethical, legal and professional expansion of their practice. • Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to infection control and take responsibility in updating own knowledge in infection control issues. - Professional Leadership and Consultancy: • Be a recognised leader in Oncology and provide professional leadership, which will support, motivate and inspire colleagues and enhance the development of clinical practice. • Act as a consultant to implement strategies to support Clinical Governance within the Duchess of Devonshire Wing and will be expected to promote best practice and influence the development of services across organisational boundaries. • Have advanced leadership skills to enhance the development of patient pathways to improve on national standards and guidelines. • Participate in the development of The Clinic• Implement and monitor standards of nursing practice and promote continuous improvement. • Generate and implement new solutions that will best suit the needs of patients and support colleagues throughout the change of practice. • Initiate and implement structures for Clinical Governance and promote best practice. Qualifications:• RGN • Post registration course within this specialist field • A first degree with nursing focus preferably within the specialist field • Second degree at Masters level –or working towards. • Recognised teaching qualification Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in speciality at a senior level Salary Range : £34,806 to £42,655 per annum + Benefits
