Austin Dean Recruitment is currently looking for a permanent Lead Nurse Symptom Control in Full-Time in London.The role holder will lead the delivery of high quality palliative and end of life care to patients, will take responsibility for the development of individual and generic symptom management plans, will contribute to the development of the service through research, audit and Quality Improvement.Duties/Responsibilities: - Professional/ Clinical• Working directly with staff to identify learning needs and to develop and deliver end of life strategy. • To take responsibility for policy development and procedural guidance in relation to symptom control management. • Monitor and evaluate the effects of prescribed treatment, adjusting medication within agreed protocol and in conjunction with the medical team. • Acting as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing educational leadership for palliative and end of life care • Developing/ facilitating training in new skills/ topics in response to emerging knowledge, and clinical need • Working across professional boundaries using creative reasoning and problem-solving • Demonstrating continuous evaluation of practice and making appropriate changes when necessary • Providing coaching supervision and mentorship to relevant professionals as requested • Engaging and collaborating with a range of stakeholders • Influencing care through effective education and training programmes across all levels. • Assessing and interpreting findings from User Involvement events to inform educational activities. • Facilitative communication skills to support reflection and learning from highly complex and sensitive experiences in practice. • Innovative patient-centred teaching which is flexible and effective in a range of care settings and relevant to multi-professionals. • Supporting staff to attain approved core competencies and quality standards in palliative and end of life care. • Collating and recording of quantitative and qualitative data to provide evidence of productivity, outcomes and quality. • Empowering others to identify, promote and introduce best practice and develop their clinical decision making - Heath and Safety: • To be familiar with Health and Safety representative for your area. • Risk Management, The Health & Safety at Work Act, Alert team by attending mandatory updates. • To be competent in the use and storage of all equipment in the department and promptly report any faults. • To be familiar with the COSHH guidelines relating to the administration of cytotoxic drugs. • To attend mandatory department protection study days • To ensure temporary workers to the department are familiar with the Clinics Health and Safety Regulations and that training records are kept up to date. • To promote the safeguard, well being and interests of patients relatives and colleagues. • To have the responsibility of all individuals to comply with infection control policies and to attend any appropriate training requirements.Qualifications : • Registered General Nurse • A first degree with a nursing focus preferably within the Oncology specialism • Post registration course within the Oncology specialism • Recognised teaching qualification Experience:• Minimum of 5 years experience in the speciality at a senior level • Experience of clinical audit and ability to interpret results and change service delivery accordingly • Evidence of participation in research, critical appraisal of research and the application of research. • A record of innovation and the implementation of improvements in practice • Proven track record in practice innovation and developments, leading to improved patient care outcomes Salary Range : £34,358 - £42,493 + benefits
